What evidence exists that shows relaxers (perms) and dyes in one's hair can cause balding?

i've heard stories of people losing their long hair based on chemically processing it and dying it- but i'm uncertain about chemicals put on someone's scalp to make their hair straight or a different color causing a person to fall out! What evidence exists that shows relaxers (perms) and dyes in one's hair can cause balding?
lol for one its chemical proccessing ..which is horribly bad for your hair!

i dont know about balding but a lot of my friends have gotten perms and their hair never went back to normal and it looks very dry and horrible.

i wouldn't reccommend getting a perm or a relaxer..unless u want some horrible ugly hair! What evidence exists that shows relaxers (perms) and dyes in one's hair can cause balding?
If a person is allergic or sensitive to the chemicals, that will cause hair loss. If the chemical is not rinsed completely from the hair, this too will cause hair loss. Leaving it on the hair too long will cause hair loss. The biggest problem is that women don't take care of their hair properly after a chemical treatment. It is important to use good hair care products, especially conditioners. Using a lot of heat, such as curling or straightening irons everyday causes big damage. I've worn a relaxer for over 20 years with no problems.

yes it can cause hair fall but what the girl above said isn't 100% true. It's true that relaxers damage the hair and alter the hair structure but with proper hair care it can be ''healthy''.My hair is relaxed but it really shines, and looks healthy so that really depends also on how you take care of it.
