I don't want to use chemical relaxers on my hair due to overprocessing any suggestions for black hair?

hair is thick, curly somewhat, unmanageable when new growth comes inI don't want to use chemical relaxers on my hair due to overprocessing any suggestions for black hair?
The chemical route:

Um, stop over processing it then. :P Use a mild relaxer. The Silk Element mild forumula is excellent. I have color treated hair and have never over-processed with that. If relaxer is just way too harsh, use a texturizer. Texturizers soften the curls but do not straighten them completely.

Non-chemical route:

Well moisturized hair= easy to manage hair. Use a moisturizing shampoo. Two good bets are Cream of Nature and the Silk Elements Shampoo. Also use a nice thick mayonnaise as your conditioner. The Silk Element Moisturizing Treatment (not the mayonnaise, they have two types. Can you tell I love this product line?) or the Organic Root Stimulator Mayonnaise are both excellent. Use a straightening balm when blow drying your hair and keep up with a nice leave in cream. The Carrot Oil cream by Organic Root Stimulator is the most awesome stuff on earth for your hair, I kid you not. Haha.

When using a straightening iron, make sure you use a heat protection product to protect your hair from drying out. When you go to bed at night, wear a silk cap or silk scarf. The cotton from your pillow case soaks up tons of moisture from your hair. Combine that with tossing and turning in your sleep with dried hair =breakage. Wrapping your hair with a foam wrapping lotion prior to putting on that scarf will help maintain straight styles as well as minimize the chance for breakage.

I know it's a lot of info but beauty take work. Good luck!I don't want to use chemical relaxers on my hair due to overprocessing any suggestions for black hair?
My wife has the same issue. she is filipino. here is what she does and her hair looks great!!

after washing and conditioning her hair with a high quality shampoo and conditioner (paul mitchel) she blow dries her hair out straight. ( blow dries while using a wide toothed comb, dont use brush) this is best done drying in sections (underneathe sectoins first working from close to scalp outward)

...if you dont like blow drying your hair out straight you can get a con air infinity styler,,,its awsome (basicly a blowdryer with built in straightening teeth) you can get them almost anywhere, walgreens, walmart salons)

after her hair is dry it is somewhat striaght but kind of puffy...so she will the use a high qaulity flat iron. (she uses a chi however a paul mitchel smoothing iron is nice aswell) these can be baught at most any salon.

again you want to do this in section. pull hair up and do small sections until finished.

and there you have nice straight flat hair..no relaxers required..

also self hot oil treatments help keep hair strong and healthy..also adds shine... you can get them at drug stores or even grocery stores. my wife like Vo5 hot oil treatment!

hope that helps
