I want to stop using relaxers in my hair. Any suggestions from women that have done the same?

I've been using a relaxer for at least 16 years. I have quite thick, somewhat coarse but manageable hair, so I think going relaxer-free should be easy...hopefully. I plan to straighten my hair with a flat iron. Any viable suggestions are greatly appreciated.I want to stop using relaxers in my hair. Any suggestions from women that have done the same?
Just stop and as the new growth come in cut off the permed ends...until its all natural hair. use only natural shampoos and conditioner and olive oil and eggs in your hair.I want to stop using relaxers in my hair. Any suggestions from women that have done the same?

Many of the ladies here are stretching their relaxers or in/will be in transition like yourself.
What your doing is called transitioning and alot of woman are doing it, including me. All you really need to know is keep your hair properly moisturized and conidtioned. Deep condition once a week with a moisturizing conditioner and every 5-6 weeks deep condition with a protein conditioner to prevent the breakage that will occur at the point of demarcation, where the natural and relaxed hair meet. I also flat iron my hair but the longer the natural hair gets the less I iron.
