My hair is damaged from relaxers, hair dye, and lack of proper maintenance.?

Can I get it deep conditioned? What can I do to get it healthy again? My hair is damaged from relaxers, hair dye, and lack of proper maintenance.?
Since hair is dead, like your fingernails, there isn't much you can do to return it to healthiness once the hair shaft has been damaged.

You can plaster it with coatings in conditioners, grease it with oils and waxes, etc., but nothing will repair it. No matter what the claims on the bottles are, it doesn't change scientific fact... you've damaged the hair. Any temporary product you put on your hair will wash off the next time you shower.

What to do? Get to a stylist and have a cute, new short haircut that works with your hair type, whether it's kinky, curly, wavy, straight, etc. Stop using heat and chemicals to color and straighten/curl your hair. It's ok to use temporary products like conditioners, rinses, anti-frizz gels because they sit on the top of the hair shaft and wash away. It's the damaging stuff you want to avoid. See your stylist every 4-6 weeks to maintain your style. My hair is damaged from relaxers, hair dye, and lack of proper maintenance.?
I'm having the same problems...and I had realllly long hair. So I cut off like 7 inches, sadly! And started using better products, more deep conditioners, hot oil treatments, etc. And if I have to dye it, I use products without amonia.
when my hair gets damaged (because of medicine im taking) i usually have to cut it. i get it cut to get the damaged hair out and lay off the relaxers for a while. if i have to get one i will only do it every 2 months until my hair is back to normal. i do nothing else but cut it and stop relaxing. my hair grows back like it used to be. no special shampoos or anything. just the cut.
Buzz it all off and start over.
I have to agree with ohhdear above, because once damaged, hair is very difficult to restore, deep conditioners and oils notwithstanding. Suggest you get a good haircut and maintain your hair from there; you can consider it a fresh start, so to speak.

What to do with the fresh start? Determine your hair type, for one, and proceed with a hair care regimen from there. If you have dandruff, you'll have to treat that before you do anything else.

Also avoid hair products with alcohol and ammonia. Try the gentler formulas-maybe organics and herbals will help?

Then be kind to your hair. Since you don't want a repeat, invest in a good cut and a good dye job. It may cost more but this way you won't have to keep using chemicals on it.

As for the relaxer, if you have frizzy or bushy hair, there is a procedure called rebonding or a straight perm that may last for up to 6 months.

Don't forget to take care of your scalp as well! A healthy scalp yields healthy hair, so try to wash hair and massage scalp every other day.

Hope it helps!
First and foremostly, you don't HAVE to cut your hair. What you do need to do is moisturize and condition your hair. You may have to put your hair up in braids for awhile or in a phony bun to cover your ends.

It will take a while but you can recover. I suggest that you go an internet search for Black hair care and get some ideas from websites such as

www.blackhairmedia.com .

You will find that you should NOT oil your scalp but you should keep your ends moisturized and oiled.

Wash your hair at least once at week or more often to get your hair moisturized.

Look at the photos the women have as proof that these methods work. It's not just talk, they get results.

Good Luck
hair grease is the best thing for you're hair. Olive Oil works best to make hair grow. and brushing it a lot also makes it grow. the two things you can do is brush it every night 100 times. and always brush it back into a ponytail. Hair grows faster when its all together.
you can deep condition your hair.

you need to start treating your hair like the hair you want to have. buzzing yourself bald or cutting it all if is not your only option.

go to a hair stylist and have them cut/trim/style your hair into something you can manage. get a trim every 4-6 weeks.

DO NOT RELAX YOUR HAIR!! find a natural style you like. braids, curly fro, or pressed/flat ironed.

once all the damaged hair has been eliminated, you have a fresh canvas to work with!! if you want to relax your hair or die it again, get it done professionally. but i would suggest you let your hair REST for a while.
Use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. Also, for about a month, deep condition every other time you wash you hair. DO NOT wash your hair every day, it strips the natural oils that keep it healthy. Use Biolage moisturizing line. Yes, it is more expensive than store bought brands but if it helps you get your hair healthy its worth it.

When you get out of the shower apply an anti frizz cream (I like DOVE) and when you towel dry DO NOT twist your hair into the towel...it makes it even worse.

Do not blow dry, straighten, or use curling irons. If you work somewhere that you can't wear your hair up curl it with gel, because any kind of heat right now will just put it in even worse condition!!!
Look I kept braids for over a year, and when i took them out my hair looked like I had fried it in a pan. All you need to do is use a cream based relaxer, deep condition it with cholesterol for super damaged hair ( sit under a dryer for 30-45 minutes) and then wash it out with warm water. Blow dry, but be sure to grease the scalp with something herbal, and stlye. My hair looks great like nothing was wrong with it. I did this just saturday, and my hair still looks good. Make sure you wash your hair every 2 weeks, so that you don't have too much build up on the hair. Heavy hair causes unwanted breakage. DO NOT PUT HAIR IN A PONYTAIL, UNITL HEALTHY!
First you have to remember that everyone is different, and different hair textures take different approaches as far as maintaining, and caring for.

Its gonna take a while, but you have to moisturize it, grease your scalp, and try not to relax it, or put any harsh chemicals in it for a while. Maybe try getting some braids (corn rolls) for a few months, but the moisturizing is gonna help strengthen it, and get the nutrients back in your hair.

I'm African American and I use Pantene shampoo, and conditioners for relaxed hair in the brown bottles (for african americans) and it has helped, so try that.

Get your ends clipped at least every 6-8 weeks to get rid of the damaged ends. I went through the same thing with my hair, and I got it back in control.

If you need it to be straightened get it pressed only, but stay away from the chemicals until it is healthy enough to take it again. One more thing, buy the Doo Gro products, or try Dr. Miracle oils, and hair greases for your hair.

Cutting it all off is not the only solution, but it is gonna take time, and a lot of care to get it together, but if its worth it to you, then it won't be a problem. Good Luck.
