Do All hair relaxers cause hair damage?

Iv'e had natural hair for years. I am African American so this question is for African American females. Has anyone tried a relaxer that actually works and doesn't cause hair damage. Because 3 years ago i got a relaxer and my hair started to fall out, why do you think that is? and is there a relaxer that i can use that my hair won't suffer from?Do All hair relaxers cause hair damage?
essentially what a relaxer does is damage, it breaks down the keratin bonds in your hair. When applied correctly, the break down is controlled and 'damage' is minimal. There are other steps you can/should take like basing the scalp with petroleum, protecting the hair itself with a filler like conditioner. If you're coming from natural though, protecting the hair would not be beneficial because the relaxer won't take on hair covered in conditioner. That's a step for retouches to prevent over processing. Post relaxer neutralize/moisturize shampoo, deep condition.

You also need to start with healthy hair, natural hair gets a reputation for being drier because its curlier, so prepare weeks before hand with shampooing and deep conditioning, and regular moisturizing. If your hair was dry and weak, over process, not neutralized right 3 years ago, that would cause breakage. There is a bevy of reasons you had an adverse experience, so just consider.Do All hair relaxers cause hair damage?
ALL relaxers and texturizers cause damage to your hair, whether it's immediate or over time. The chemicals used in these products are the same that are used to unclog pipes. They basically take the curl and texture out of your hair. I have been natural for about 15 years with one small relapse, and being natural is SO much better. It may be more work, but you can wear your hair curly or you can straighten it out. If you want super straight hair, invest in a good flat iron and use it once it week and wrap your hair at night. When I wear my hair straight, people can't believe that I'm natural. I guarantee that if you get a relaxer, you will regret it and you'll be going back to natural.
I can only say that if you choose to have a relaxer, it may be best to have a professional do it. However, relaxers that are left on too long or are not neutralized properly can cause damage not only to the hair but to the scalp as well. If you have been natural for years, perhaps you should have opted for a texturizer instead. But with all relaxers, it's important to take proper care of your hair and make sure you do protein treatments to help strengthen the hair to prevent/minimize breakage. HTH
I wouldn't know cuz I am not a hair relaxer. But only perfect logic would suggest why would a hair relaxer want to cause damage. That's the complete opposite of a relaxer............. I don't think you should make accusations like that... you never know who is listening?
All relaxers can cause damage if you don't follow directions and don't look after your hair probably.

If you know what your doing it will be okay, do your research.
if done improperly and not taken care of the right way it can lead to sever damage just like dyed hair
