ARE HAIR RELAXERs SAFE?

I'M MIXED RACE AND BOUGHT ONE FOR PEOPLE WITH FINE HAIR.ARE THE BRANDS LIKE SOFTSHEEN CARSON SAFE? I READ ABOUT PERMANANT HAIR LOSS! I HAVE DIED MY HAIR A FEW MONTHS AGO PERMANANTLY THOUGH AND THAT WAS OK.ARE HAIR RELAXERs SAFE?
Chemicals are not safe to put on your head. You can have breakage from the relaxer if you use it after you have dyed your hair. I had highlights in my hair and then I relaxed a couple of months later. My hair broke off in so many different places. I looked uneven. I had to grow my hair out and cut out the relaxer.

If you are bi-racial why not embrace the curls you already have. You might want to consider that. Some wonderful websites for ethnic hair is forum.blackhairmedia.com, naturallycurly.com, and happycurls.com. These websites have a lot of information on ethnic hair. Even on relaxers if you decide to do so. Also a lot of information on how to take care of your hair post relaxer. Check them out and see if they help you. Good LuckARE HAIR RELAXERs SAFE?
Yes relaxers are safe if your follow the instructions. Also you need to keep your hair moisturized after you added the relaxer. You will need a hair oil/hair dressing for your scalp and hair or use a oil sheen spray.

Soft Sheen relaxers are not very good. I preferred Revlon Realistic or Hawaiian Silky or Dr. Miralces all three come in a mild formula.

I do not have to heated hair straighteners on my hair. Dr. Miracles leaves your hair really straight.

You probably will not have to straightened your hair after using Soft Sheen since your of a mixed race. To avoid hair loss always wrap up your hair at night with a silk or satin scarf. Add a hair dressing to your scalp and hair. Limit your use of heated hair appliance. Do not use rubber bands on your hair. Do not use hair sprays or gels on your hair.
Personally i do not believe that relaxers are safe. If a chemical that you put on your hair to alternate the texture of it. It can cause hair loss, and chemical burns. the hair will still stay somewhat straight when you wash it and people still use curling irons and flat irons to make it even more straight. Never color and relax your hair in the same day. Wait at least a week or two before the do the other.

A lot of woman are starting to wear their hair natural because of the harm that relaxers cause to their hair. I suggest that if you do put a relaxer in that you have a professional do it.
Hair relaxers are safe as long as they are applied or used by professionals. I can't tell you the amount of people I know who tried to do it at home and ended up with severe breakage.

If I were you I would take all these questions to a reputable salon.
The natural curls will go away...you should use a mild texturizer.

The texturizer which I alo have; my hair gets curly when I wash it, but if I blow dry it it goes bone straight.

If you just want straight the you can use the maxiglide .its a striaghten iron....

Relaxer are not safe for mixed hair..

color and relaxer is a combination that will make your hair fall out...and cause damage....

Go to a domincan hair salon....or ask other mixed ladies where they get their hair done. don't be shy...

Good Luck

Let me know how it goes....

Girl, you really need to go to a salon with either domincan or purtorician. I say this because in their culture they have many different textures of hair and know how to deal with mixed, to kinky or straight. To get the look you want and have healthy hair.

All hair is different and require different care...

When your roots grow out with any chemical you need a touch up of the 1st relaxer/texturier you used. (at the roots of new growth)

If not your hair will begin to fall out...or break...

You can grow your natural hair out, but it will be very damaged...

Please see a professional....
Relaxers are good to some extent. True they do straighten your hair but you can't do it frequently b/c it will cause hair breakage. Since you have fine hair maybe every 6 weeks. Softsheen carson and Dark %26amp; Lovely are okay, make sure you use only the mild or regular since you hair fine hair!

You have to keep you hair moisturized also. Relaxers depending on the company, may dry out your hair so stay away from a lot of heat and moisturize and condition your hair every week to keep it healthy.

When you first get your relaxer make sure each subsequent relaxer is only applied to your new growth. Once you get the chemical in you have to keep it maintained

Make sure you relax your hair in the time allotted according to your hair type. The sodium hydroxide will burn your scalp if it is left in too long. You need nuetralizing shampoo to balance the ph and you need a conditioning shampoo to detangled and condition.

Overall, you will not lose any hair if you be cautious about how you treat your hair. Relaxers can be helpful but also harmful if you don't keep the texture maintained.

Good Luck!
hair relaxers are safe, but you have to know what you are doing. just read the instructions before you actually use it. use a no lye relaxer, that says gentle or medium, dont use super or extra until you find out how your hair will take it. the only way you can lose your hair is if you over process it. dont relax your hair more than once a month depending on thickness. it will last thru washing and curling. i usually relax my hair say first of the month, then when i use a color i usually do that 2 weeks later if my roots are showing. definitely dont color and relax your hair within 2 wks of each other. use gloves, some relaxers come with gloves. i use precise or optimum relaxer. and you must use a neutralizing shampoo when you rinse after relaxing. this allows all the chemicals to neutralize from your hair. if you need any other help email me or see a beautician in your area
Don't use dark and lovely it make you feel the burn intense.Use the beautiful beginnings for kids(is more safe ) or organic root stimulator olive oil (you don't feel the burn too much.I'll advice you to keep it natural cause the relaxed hair stay straight always while natural can be curly/straight (with flat irons) and more many people relax their hair and later want their natural hair back ,the was God created it.If u still want to relax it make sure you don't over process ur hair and make sure also to read the instructions carefully .For ur 1st relaxing let aprofesinal do it for you .also read this:

Also if you relax ur hair will be straight no matter what and you have to do touch up every 6-8 week according to how fast ur hair grow, make sure to study the relaxing process by finding more info's from the internet before going further and make sure you know how to maintain it healthy

Good luck!
YES THERE SAFE.AS LONG AS YOUR HAIR IS IN GOOD CONDITION.YOUR ROOTS WILL GROW BACK CURLY AS THE RELAXER ONLY RELAXES THE EXSITING HAIR.RELAXERS ALSO CAN SLITLY STRIP COLOUR FROM THE HAIR(FADE IT SLITLY)THATS IF YOU HAVE ANY COLOUR ON IT.PERSONLY I WOULD HAVE IT DONE IN A SALON.BECAUSE THEY WILL DO A INCOMPATABILTLY TEST.(A TEST TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HAIR DOESNT REACT WITH THE RELAXER).YOU SEE HOME KIT RELAXERS CAN BE UNSAFE,BECAUSE YOU JUST DONT KNOW WHETHER YOUR HAIR WILL REACT TO IT.
