Hair Relaxers Versus Flat Iron?

I want my hair to be perfectly straight; does the flat iron do a better job or does the hair relaxer?

It seems like whenever I use my flat iron, my hair gets poofy throughout the day. Will this happen if I use a relaxer?Hair Relaxers Versus Flat Iron?
A relaxer just relaxs the curl or wave, it doesn't completely eliminate it. So, you do still have to use a flat iron. The puffiness is coming from the humidity in the air or the heat from your head.Hair Relaxers Versus Flat Iron?
Chemicals are terrible for your hair. If you use a treatment with chemicals you will probably end having to cut your hair because of damage to the ends. If you think it poofs with a flat iron, wait till you see what happens when it is DRIED OUT!
I agree, find a good product to help keep your hair straight after flat ironing.

The absolute best bar none I have ever used is ';S Factor'; by TIGI. They have shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and a line of styling products. All are great. I swear by the styling sprays -- the flat iron spray especially.

I have very VERY curly hair and when I use S Factor products, I get stick-straight hair, and it stays that way until I wash it. Even through high humidity and rain!
when you use a flat iron - do you use a gel or mouse?
Depending on your hair type, relaxers may damage your hair. Then you will be left with split ends which will in turn make your hair super frizzy and poofy.Stick to the flat iron.Just buy a product to use that will help during the flat iron process. There are plenty of them out there. They help keep the humidity from frizzing your hair. Most major lines such as nexxus and garnier have one.Just shop around.
Using a relaxer will control any frizz or poofing that might occur with flat ironing. The plus side to relaxing as opposed to daily flat ironing is that there's no heat damage. However be sure to think this through before you make the official decision.
it depends on you hair texture, because mine do that, i permed it - nothing happend!, see a stylist
this shouldn't happen with a relaxer but depending on what type of hair you have or what state it is in it may damage your hair. maybe a reason why your hair gets poofy is because it needs more moisture. try the product dr. miracle, it works to help your hair. or tre semme's new product that helps your hair keep moisture when you flat iron.
It'll happen whether you have a straightener/relaxer or use a flat iron. But overall, the chemical relaxer is the better option because it's healthier for your hair. Daily flat ironing is awful on your hair, but chemical straightening is EXPENSIVE.
you could try it but really depends on your hair texture but you should consult a stylist first.
flat iron...

you can use straightening sprays with your flat iron to help your poof problem

try herbal essances dangerously straight spray

you spray it on before you straighten when your hair is dry

i use it and it works

[my hair is a little frizzy/poofy too]

and also, it may be poofing if your getting wet or sweating, so make sure thats not happening!

I say it really depends on the type of hair that you have. I usually use a relaxer retouch to help with new growth. So I wouldn't really recommend a relaxer if your hair grows longer naturally. Because the chemicals can do more harm than good for your hair. I suggest using the flat iron, and possibly looking into a type of holding spray or some type of hair gel or foam or something that holds the straightened look in place and cuts down on the poofiness.
hair relaxer is better in terms of smooth, straight hair than the flat iron but u have to maintain it well otherwise ur hair will start falling. u have to do hot oil treatment and deep conditioning and lots of mosturisation. and every time the roots grow u have to re-touch it. all these requie money.

flat iron might coz poof but its easy to use and less costly.

use hair products for controlling poof like sleek look spray with the flat iron.
